Sunday
After a Friday lecture and slideshow in the classroom by Mike "droning on," we gathered in the schoolyard, loaded up, and headed for the hills.

Monday
This was our first day in the field. We met our Naturalists, formed our Hiking Groups, and went off our five different ways. My group went through Spider Cave with Kim V.K.

Tuesday
I missed this day because I had to go home to work on the election board again. This is the last year I work that post during a YI trip.

Wednesday
Another sunny day in Yosemite. In the middle of the day, it was T-shirt weather but the storm clouds were gathering on the horizon. We took busses to the south rim and hiked; some to Taft Point and some to Sentinel Dome. We ended up at Glacier Point for grand views before the busses took us back to The Valley for supper.

Thursday
The rain came as forecast. As in previous years, we moved from the Valley to Wawona for the next two days. We went to the Mariposa Grove and then on to Camp Wawona.

Friday
After a hike in the rain and some time with our journals in the meal hall, we thanked our naturalists, loaded up, and headed for home. It didn't just rain a little, it stormed! It made it a lot more fun; if you are going to get wet, you might as well have he fun of getting absolutely soaked. The South Fork of the Merced was raging by this time and we got to compare it to the main fork we crossed on stepping stones a few days earlier.

Photographs by Steve Scoville
In January, 2003, Steve sent these images from his digital camera. He went with Danger Rave (oh, OK: Ranger Dave Dengler) and has a different set of experiences in these shots

Photographs of adult-child pairs and groups
This year, it was storming outside so I shot these in the meal hall. Thanks go to these adults who came to help make this trip possible; here are some shots of them with their kids.
